Wash bay owner jailed for drug trafficking

first_imgA wash bay owner who was charged for having cannabis for the purpose of trafficking February last was sentenced to four years in prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman on Tuesday.Leroy Robertson, 35, of Lot 17 Broad and Lombard Streets, Charlestown, was accused of having 38 grams of cannabis in his possession for trafficking on February 19, 2016 at Broad Street, Charlestown.In handing down her ruling, Magistrate Latchman told the Court that she was satisfied with the evidence, which proved that Robertson had knowledge and control of the cannabis.She also placed weight on the fact that he had the drug for trafficking since it weighed over 15 grams.Magistrate Latchman told the Court her decision was based on the manner in which the drug was concealed and the need to prevent others from committing the same offence.It was during this time Robertson asked the Court for leniency since he has a sickly mother and a child.He was also ordered to pay a $30,000 fine.last_img read more
