first_imgFormer Chelsea and Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has been appointed the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, hours after Mauricio Pochettino was fired.Pochettino was fired on Tuesday after a poor start to the season by Spurs which has left them in 14th place.He had guided Spurs to their first Champions League final five months ago.Despite turning Tottenham into a consistent top four team in the Premier League and a title contender, Pochettino has been criticised for failing to win any silverware in his time at the club.Jose Mourinho signs a deal with the North London club until the end of the 2022/23 seasonSpurs Chairman Daniel Levy described Mourinho as “one of the most successful managers in football” whose “energy” he believes will be crucial to the side.“He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached.
