first_imgLetterkenny Golf News: With the Captain once again proving that his “intuition” is usually correct, the decision to postpone the weekend competitions, including the Captain’s drive-in on Sunday, was most appreciated by the members when the forecasted inclement gale force winds and rain finally arrived.CAPTAINS’ DRIVE-IN: Looking forward with much delight and anticipation to the annual DRIVE-IN, members would like to take this opportunity in wishing Club Captain Gerard Duffy, Lady Captain Margo Birmingham and club President Anne Condon every success in the forthcoming season. The Drive-In will now take place on SUNDAY 8th MARCH, [weather permitting]. Competition format will be a SCRAMBLE. Sign-in from 10am—tea, coffee, scones, meet & greet: Shotgun start @ 12noon:With the “back-to-golf” syndrome kicking in again, competitors are reminded that the Wednesday & Saturday Opens and Sunday confined competitions have returned to normal [weather permitting] with members’ entry fee €7. “Mats” are still in operation until St. Patrick’s Day at the earliest. Congratulations to Letterkenny Golf Club member Finnian O’ Doherty, proud winner of the North West Alliance Golfer of the Year [Gross] and to Eamonn O’ Carroll who finished a very credible 4th position in Saturday’s outing to Ballyliffin.SUBS:It’s that time of year again! All members are asked to forward membership subscriptions asap. Subs must be paid before St. Patrick’s Day Open.WE NEED YOUR OLD MOBILE PHONES—- to get a second defibrillator that will be housed on the course, making it more accessible should something occur during play on the front 11 holes. There is a box provided in the club foyer for all of your old unwanted mobile phones—-please donate NOW!!HAVE YOU SIGNED UP?Letterkenny Golf Club’s Online Lotto’s draw took place on Wednesday 18th February and, although there was no JACKPOT winner of €1,750, two lotto members who smiled happily were Dessie Kelly & Seamus Mc Conville winners of the “lucky dip” prizes of €50 each.
