Bring him home! Tony Bellew urges Everton to re-sign Wayne Rooney – LISTEN

first_imgTony Bellew has pleaded with Everton to re-sign Wayne Rooney. The world champion boxer is an ardent Toffees fan and he admits he is desperate to see the striker back in a blue jersey.Rooney, who left his boyhood club for Manchester United in 2004, is expected to exit Old Trafford in the summer. The 31-year-old has lost his starting spot at United and with England and it is widely thought his best days are behind him.But Bellew remains a big fan of Rooney, telling talkSPORT: “I would love Wazza to come back. I would love nothing more than to see Wazza in an Everton shirt again.“It is quite simple for me. Have we got better players than Wayne Rooney? No. Have we got young players with the potential to be as good as him? Yes. But will they learn from him? Massively.“You have got players who haven’t got that experience – World Cups, European Cup finals. He has won every single thing you can possibly win in football. Why not have him there?“He is not old. You are not talking about taking on a 34-year-old, you are talking about taking on a kid who has still got some good years ahead of him and also a guy who understands what it means to play for Everton football club.”last_img read more
