Chase Utley appeal hearing set for Oct. 19, after NLDS

first_imgNEW YORK— Dodgers infielder Chase Utley will not have his appeal heard until next Monday, Oct. 19, clearing him to play in the National League Division Series. Major League Baseball suspended Utley for two games following his slide in Game 2 of the series that fractured the right leg of Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada. Utley immediately appealed the suspension, making him eligible to play until the appeal is heard. Utley was booed heavily during pregame introductions before Game 3 on Monday, followed by disparaging chants during both Monday’s and Tuesday’s games at Citi Field.Despite expressing concern for Utley’s security, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he considered Utley available to play both games.
